Her standout role came in Tyler Perry’s 2024 film, The Six Triple Eight, which tells the inspiring story of the only all-Black, all-female battalion during World War II. As a recruit in the film, Shaakirah further showcased her versatility as an artist, proving that her talent knows no bounds. “These women changed history. Being part of a project that highlights their resilience and contributions was humbling”.
Shaakirah described the impact of portraying these historical figures. “At first, I was just excited to see myself on screen. But as I watched the film, I realized how powerful it was to be part of such an important story. It hit me ”I wasn’t just playing a role. I was representing these incredible women and their legacy.
On Set with Legends
Working on set was a transformative experience for Shaakirah . She shared how the process taught her patience and the importance of staying present. One scene can take an entire day to shoot, she says. “You have to stay focused and ready, especially as a background actor”.
She also reflected on the opportunity to work with icons like Debbie Allen and Tyler Perry. “Being trained by Debbie Allen and seeing Tyler Perry’s dedication up close was incredible. The energy and passion they bring to their work inspired me to stay committed to my craft”.
Creative Ventures Beyond the Stage
In addition to her work in dance and acting, Shaakirah is a talented visual artist. She creates unique jewelry pieces, clothing, and paintings. “Whatever comes to me creatively, I just go with it, she says. “Life inspires me, and I use my art as a tool to express love, peace, and kindness”.
Shaakirah’s artistic philosophy is deeply tied to her personal growth. “I used to think my purpose was tied to my talents. But now, I realize my purpose is to be the highest version of myself. My gifts help me stay connected to that version”.

Discipline has been the foundation of my journey, keeping me focused. And strength ”because being an artist isn’t easy.
